Joseph Shabason – Our Place [Listen]

Today is a big day in the USA with the election to find out who will win.
Toronto musician Joseph Shabason dropped the single called Our Place via Western Vinyl.
A relaxing experimental and ambient track that will ease the insanity and tension.

About the song:
Originally composed for the documentary, In The Name Of All Canadians about Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms, “Our Place” features a beat that inspired Joseph Shabason’s much-loved song “Broken Hearted Kota,” and a hypnotic and tranquil guitar progression by Thom Gill, which floats gently through Shabason’s signature clouds of analog synths.

As he explains “Because this song was for the end credits of a documentary about Canada, I wanted to make something evoked the way that Canada makes me feel…which is to say that it’s expansive, beautiful, and hopeful, but running throughout the piece is a thread of melancholy.
There is so much to love about Canada, but along with all the good there is the dissonance of a history of colonialism and genocide that continues to this day.”

Our Place gets:
/10.
