There is something unique about Quebec City’s Leafer.
Formerly the band was called Les Mammographes. (Probably they want a easier name for people to pronounce outside of Quebec)
The band has opened up for bands like Clues and Winter Gloves.
Now they have released a full-length called Sea Scene.
Two tracks were on the teaser EP Forest Sun.
Its very high energy and vibrant indie experimental rock with a touch of Quebec sound.
They have this theatrical sounds of Wolf Parade and Arcade Fire.
Also adding that sloppiness pop sound in Parlovr and Cotton Mouth.
Sea Scene seems to have a water theme in tracks like
Best tracks:
- Tower Of Salt
- Ocean Salt
- Forest Sun
- Taïkonauts
- Les Mouches
- Swim
Its a step up from Raised by Ghost.
I’d give this album 7.8/10.
