Today the Kingston ON based singer/songwriter Michael C. Duguay dropped the live studio video for Sonny, No Army which features Rob Dickson & Calla Kinglit.
The third single is taken from his forthcoming album called Saint Maybe which comes out on July 7, 2023 via Inside Pocket Music.
A lovely intimate soul-baring folk rock tune.
About the track:
‘The words to this song came together after a period of several months where I was unable to write,” explains Dickson.
“Michael suggested that we could try co-writing a few songs and the change of perspective to writing words for someone else to sing was totally freeing for me.
I was outside of my own head and that came with permission to tap into free association. When I heard the chord sequence that Michael recorded and shared, I felt inspired to try using Scottish conversational language that my dad and grandparents used with my growing up.
I felt like those words would provide something unexpected and perhaps emphasize the song being a scene of liberation and would be a nod to both familial and musical ancestors that both Michael and I share.”
