Will 2013 be a breakthrough hit for Montreal’s Mozart’s Sister?
For anyone not familiar, it is the solo project of Caila Thompson-Hannant who used to play with Shapes + Sizes and Think About Life.
This time she is on her own and will drop her first EP “Hello” February 25th on Merok Records.
Kudos to Caila to be on this label.
This is you will hear from this.
Mixing electronic loops and samples, R&B grooves and a soaring soul sister voice, the sound is unique and shows a woman who is not afraid to take chances or play by her own rules.
Tracks on Hello:
- Mozart’s Sister
- Don’t Leave It To Me
- Contentedness
- Single Status
While listening to the four tracks, I couldn’t help but enjoy it!
Remember hearing the songs Mozart’s Sister and Don’t Leave It To Me played live at various shows.
I will say it again, it is like listening to a mature version of Grimes mixed in with some tUnE-yArDs and Think About Life.
Kind of like it when they used their act name as a song title.
You should definitely check her music out if you like synth-pop dance!
I’d give Hello 9/10.
