Hamilton’s Arkells was the big highlight at the festival. They headlined the Canadian Stage and it was literally filled with alot of people. Of course the band puts on an amazing show where the audience sang every lyrics of their songs. Truly the best set of the night.Over at the Bell Stage, the headliner was Blue Rodeo. It was a different demographics and it was more of a mellow country folk performance. A crowd pleasure when they perform in Ottawa.Headlining the Claridge Homes Stage was CeeLo Green. Now that was a unique show. CeeLo came out wearing a robe. Wasn’t sure if he was being Sun Ra or a shiek or whatever. It was electrifying performance filled with his own music & covers. He didn’t a heavy rock version of Crazy and probably ended it with F**k You!Toronto’s Philip Sayce was very captivating with his insane guitar rocking skills!New York, Queen’s rapper Heems. There was buzz surrounding him during NXNE in June and sadly missed out. I was glad to see him perform but it was a weird performance, he looked liked he didn’t want to play at that timeslot which was at 6pm. Heems seems to be on those artist that is suited for late night. At least it was a great set.Toronto’s The OBGMs which means The oOohh Baby Gimme Mores performed an awesome punk rock set. I was literally surprised by their stage presence and excitement! There was even cowbells! That is a band I feel will do well in coming months or next year!Trying to cool off from the heat. Caught a song or two from Ottawa future folk band Bosveld, it was nice set which sort of reminds me of Evening Hymns. The only thing puzzling/scratching my head was Thean’s accent when he spoke to the audience. The times I chatted with him, he had no European accent or I’m probably losing my hearing. It was cool that he had Philippe Charbonneau and Pascal.Failure performing at the Bell StageAussie band Sticky Fingers was one of those wow surprise acts at the festival. They were just amazing performing reggae fusion/indie rock music.Ottawa’s The Visit performed a really unique set at the Barney Danson (which trying to cool off). Mix of experimental classical and operatic music with some added Middle Eastern vibe. One of those shows which is relaxing, mellow and transports you to a different country.Silvergun & Spleen performing and kicking off at the Canadian stage.
Started off the day with Toronto’s Scott Helman. The girls were going wild for his pop-rock music. Even Much Music was there to film his performance. A talented music to say the least.
With the hot weather, I really enjoyed Day 5 of the festival.
