A wild and fun night for Debaser‘s Pique ✦ winter edition on December 4, 2021.
Pique is a hybrid event that blends music and arts from shows, screenings, installations, and online programming in Saw Gallery, Arts Court and Ottawa Art Gallery.
Being that it is winter, everything was indoors this edition was very fun and unique.
Kicking off was Ingesting Home by Jude Abu Zaineh which was a performance piece of a big dinner party.
Then at the Arts Court theatre was Pantayo‘s Kat Estacio with some naturalistic experimental soundscape.
OAG’s Alma Duncan was Liliane Chlela with some intense experimental electronic-drone music.
Was drawn to the artwork of April Aliermo‘s dahan dahan (carefully, slowly) where it is ice disc being hung and hearing the ice melt and drip onto the metal causing some cool sound effects.
I thought was one of the standout performance was Shn Shn performing beautiful ambient pop music.
ISØBEL kicked of the show at Club Saw with her blend of electro-pop dance.
Nadah El Shazlu with visuals by Pansee Atta over at Alma Duncan was in my word kind of witchy.
Mother Tongues killed their set at Club Saw with their blend of indie fuzz noise pop and psych-rock music.
Piano modern classical music by Morgan Paige.
Things got intensely powerful during Jerusalem in my Heart over at Alma Duncan.
Performing materials from 2021’s Qalaq, it was quite something with some film projection visuals.
Caught in the hallway was innerspace beings by amelia rose griffin in collaboration with Kathering NG, Slynks and Klassic.
Stephen Eckert ending the set at the Arts Court theatre with some modern classical music.
Ending the show at Club Saw was Pony Girl and it has been a long time seeing them perform on stage.
Their new material sounded so good and more on the indie pop style.
Can’t wait for the album in 2022.
Ending my night was catching parts of Korea Town Acid with some I wish I could dance to electro-hip/hop music.
