Plants & Animals – La La Land [Review]

Plants and Animals is a band that will take some risk and experimentation on La La Land.

La La Land is the new album from Montreal’s Plants and Animals.

This band has becoming very popular due to their critically acclaimed “Parc Avenue”.
Now the band has to live up expectation for the new album.
At first I was not impress with the song “Tom Cruz” being somewhat flat.
But later on in the album, it picks up momentum with tracks like Swinging Bells and Undone Melody which comes back with their epic rocking sound.
American Idol is a change since it has that 1960s rock-bluesy saxophone sound.
Kon Tiki has that groovy tropical rock feel reminisced to Good Friend.
Jeans Jeans Jeans could that be part two for Bye Bye Bye?
Despite having a underwhelming song: Tom Cruz and having overwhelming songs: Undone Melody, Game Shows and The Mama Papa.
It is overall a great solid rocking groovy album from this Montreal trio.

Best tracks:

  • Swinging Bells
  • American Idol
  • Undone Melody
  • Game Shows
  • Fake It
  • Celebration
  • Jeans Jeans Jeans

La La Land is a 9/10.
