I know this news has been a few weeks old.
But I like to give notice to out of town acts some chances to play in Ottawa.
Also Pressed has great sandwiches and love their Canadian Mac & Cheese!
Ever since Adam Saikaley did the Experimental Music Wednesday around the spring time. (Please make it come back)
The place has been doing alot of live events.
Here comes more great news.
So far there are two great upcoming shows
July 31 – Calvin Johnson and Katie & the Lichen ($8 in advance or $10 at the door)
August 9 – Marine Dreams with Baby Eagle & the Proud Mothers and Nick Ferrio & His Feelings.
Please don’t contact me since I am not affiliated with both of them. Just spreading the word out.
You have to contact either Kelp Records or Pressed about booking a show.
Here are the details: (taken from Kelp Records)
Ottawa gourmet sandwich bar & coffeehouse Pressed announced on July 11th that local record label and artist management company Kelp Records will assume talent booking duties for the 50-capacity venue in the Centretown West area, effective immediately. Pressed has quickly established itself in the neighbourhood as a go-to spot for local arts events, equipped with a built-in, elevated stage area that looks out onto the spacious, cozy room. With its church pew seating, hardwood floors, and handcrafted ceiling sound baffles, the room sounds fantastic, and has already endeared itself to Ottawa music lovers, with programming ranging from experimental music to jazz to acoustic folk.
“I designed the space to have clear sight lines and an elevated stage so a good-sized crowd can watch a show while still maintaining a sense of intimacy between the performer and the crowd; the artists who have played here so far really like feel of the venue!” says Pressed owner Jeff Stewart. “I’m very excited about this partnership with Kelp Records. They share the same commitment to bringing great music to local stages and I feel it will be a great way to make people aware of the space for music and arts-related events.”
“Kelp is ecstatic to be partnering with Jeff and Pressed,” says Kelp founder Jon Bartlett. “We’ll do our best to bring the same detail-oriented approach to the bookings and musical events that Jeff has demonstrated in building this magnificent room and Pressed’s delicious menu. Have you tried the waffles yet?”
Kelp is taking bookings for dates after September 1st, 2012; artists seeking to set up a show can reach out through Pressed’s web site at: http://www.pressed-ottawa.
