The Annual Indie Rock Holiday Party with The Rural Alberta Advantage

Its a few more days before Christmas.
Getting in the spirit of the holidays was this amazing show at Ritual.
The headliner was The Rural Alberta Advantage.
The show was sold and which is no surprise since their music is so good.

Also the show were Rebekah HiggsLaurent Bourque and Kalle Mattson.

I was excited for Rebekah’s set because I haven’t seen her play show for awhile.
About two years she was doing material with Ruby Jean and the Thoughtful Bees.
It was great to see her back to her pop music roots.
She played tracks from the new EP “Little Voice”.
She did a Eric’s Trip cover which was amazing!
It was such a great set she put on.

Kalle Mattson’s set was good.
There was diehard fans for them and seemed to have a good time with their tunes.

Laurent Bourque did a great set too.
Kind of forget he can totally rock out and not just do acoustic rocky material.
He is totally improving.
At least he had Sam and Joel from Old Crowns and Jamie of Paramedics.
Hopefully 2011 will have something new from Laurent.

The Rural Alberta Advantage came out.
I was so excited since I hadn’t seen them since Bluesfest.
It was a crazy intense show.
Can’t believe people went wild during one of their songs.
Have to say Paul Banwatt has to be one of the best Canadian indie drummers at the moment.
I don’t know how gets the energy?
The band played a mix of new and old songs.
Loved hearing The Ballad Of The RAA, Don’t Haunt This Place (Still can not get sick of that song), Drain The Blood and The Deadroads.
Five new tracks from the upcoming second album Departing.
The three I remembered were Stamp, Muscle Relaxants and Tornado ’87.
I can’t wait for the new album on March 1st.

Since being the Christmas season, Nils sang “Little Drummer Boy”.
It was crazy!

Glad I was at this show.
This was some holiday show.

Here are the rest of the photos (More to come).
