The Balconies – The Balconies [Review]

Bluesfest has come and gone for 2009.
Now things should be back to normal.
The Balconies who I frequently feature on this site about 1, 2, 3 and 4 times.
Finally they have a debut album to bring out to the mass public.
An album that I recommend everyone to get.
If you are living under a rock, the band consists of brother and sister Jacquie and Stephen Neville and Liam Jaeger.
In case you might have heard of Jacquie Neville she was in the band Jetplanes of Abraham and sometimes plays in Sadie Hell.
The trio are all talented and puts on a great show.

Now on to the album.
Which I think they only made 100 copies when they played Bluesfest a few weeks ago.
But I heard that the future pressings will have a glow in the dark cover.
Check out Chromewaves article on the band.

This album is chalk full of great indie rock tracks.
Great cool lyrics and upbeat energetic vibe.
Got to know the names of the song now since they always play it live for example 300 Pages, Elephant Lamp and Ghost Fever.
The beginning track Lulu surprised me alot since its fun and upbeat.
Got to love The Slo with the catchy “Ooooh” part.
Overall this album is excellent and I never got bored to listening to every track.
As I repeat again, I recommend anyone to buy this album.
Now its available on iTunes.

Best tracks:

  • Lulu
  • 300 Pages
  • The Slo
  • Elephant Lamp
  • Ghost Fever
  • Battle Royale

  • From Southern Souls

  • Rest Up

If I rate this, it would be a 9.5/10.
