There is no undeniable secret that people in Ottawa are in love with The White Wires.
From the likes of Catriona Sturton (Musician who wrote a song about loving this band) to Jon Bartlett of Kelp Records to Rolf of the Acorn (Find a photo of him with the White Wires t-shirt) to the loyal legion of Ottawa fans who love their music.
Fro those who may not know, the band consist of three members who are:
- Ian (lead singer/guitarist/wears a wig at live shows)
- Luke (other singer/bassist)
- Allie (drummer)
In under just three or four years, the band has been gaining some buzz in not just the indie Ottawa Garage music scene.
The times I’ve seen them live were at 2010 Bluesfest to a secret location show from Kelp Records Anniversary show where they played in the back of a U-Haul van and Going Gaga Weekend.
The White Wires dropped their second album called WWII (No! It doesn’t stand for World War II, its the band name).
With their official album release show being on December 23th at Babylon.
The album has been available on iTunes and on vinyl since November.
Very surprised that WWII is on Dirtnap an Amercian punk rock label which is a good for them to be on.
The album is 12 tracks filled with pure power pop tracks.
There is that lo-fi feel which feels like you have been transported to a different era.
The flow of the album is very hyperactive and energetic and ends with Bye Bye Baby which is a instrumental track making us wind down.
Catchy lyrics about life, love (Just Wanna Be With You) and simply having fun (Let’s Go To The Beach).
Which is why their songs they make is very relate-able.
The White Wires are a force to be wrecken with in the Ottawa music scene.
This is one fine album coming from Ottawa.
