The Zolas dropped the last single and music video from Z Days is called “Wreck Beach/Totem Park”.
The track forms part of collection of apocalyptic songs that the band will be releasing each month this summer called Z DAYS.
Epic moody 6 minute track that feels like summer is winding down.
About the song:
Wreck Beach is the sunset spot beside my university, the University of British Columbia, and Totem Park is the name of the student residence my friends and I partied at in undergrad.
“Wreck Beach/Totem Park” is about living my whole life beside the Musqueam reserve, never being taught nor thinking to ask why they live quietly in a small corner of a land that used to be all theirs. In the last five to ten years, like most people, I started hearing a lot of voices about our country’s history from an Indigenous point of view.
The clear unfairness of it all really pulled back the curtain on the glossed-over, white-lie version we were given in Grade 10 social studies class.
