Today, visionary musician Meg Remy—better known as U.S. Girls—unveiled the music video for “Like James Said,” the second single from her forthcoming album Scratch It, out June 20, 2025 via 4AD (Internationally) and Royal Mountain Records (Canada).
“Like James Said” grooves with the signature fusion of funk, disco, and glam rock that has become Remy’s unmistakable calling card.
Equal parts strut and satire, the track slides confidently across a dancefloor of retro rhythms, slick guitar licks, and Remy’s genre-blurring vision.
About the track by Meg:
An ELO-styled nugget of AM gold and nod to James Brown about the healing power of dancing alone, Remy’s own lyrical response to Brown’s “Get Up Offa That Thing”, showcases her great — and characteristically tragicomic — phrasing, notably on the exaggerated pause in the line, “I’m the queen of exercising […] pain.”
