Anyone who grew up during the 1990s must remember this band called Nada Surf.
Their music video “Popular” was on heavy rotation on Much Music and MTV back when both channels used to play music videos ad nauseam.
I am on the subscription service Vinyl Me, Please and the record of the month for January is this album.

In highschool I was popular with our self-made fashion club, which secured us at least one picture in the yearbook. However this album made me slightly more popular among the music nerds.

I was popular for being popular
In high school I was on student council, had spiked hair and wore a tie. I was friends will all cliques although it all felt fairly inclusive. I guess I was fortunate in that sense. I think it’s important to treat people how you’d like to be treated. I also had a good sense of humour and my friend and I kept ourselves entertained. Yearbook photos were a favourite. One year an eyepatch and bandages underneath, spiked hair, etc. I was also in DECA (debate club), which was interesting and turned out to be pretty fun.
I was popular with kids who used to lie in front of the lockers in the math hall and wear studded belts and write emo lyrics on lockers and cry about feeling everything too much. Please give me Nada Surf’s record, I’m so melancholy.
