It was the last night of JUNOfest, happening at various venues in Ottawa.
I went to the show at Mavericks, which was one of those hot ticketed shows.
The acts that played were:
• The Rural Alberta Advantage

• High Waters

• Phantom Shores

Sadly, I missed Amos The Transparent because of people texting me to go to another venue at 1am, but the band was kind enough to give me their album. But I still kind of regret missing their set.
I will make a review of the album very soon.
Once the doors opened, it was already packed; even more so once the first band started, which was Ottawa’s Phantom Shores.
The band features ex-members of Jetplanes of Abraham.
This was my first time seeing them live, and it was a really good set.
If you like indie folk pop, you should check them out.
Next was Ottawa’s High Waters, who used to be Life in 2D, which I wasn’t even aware of.
Their set was interesting, there were parts they almost sounded like Muse.
If you like indie folk rock with some experimentation, check them out.
Then it was The Rural Alberta Advantage.
It took awhile for them to set up, but Nils was very apologetic to the audience for the delays.
Despite the set being around 35 minutes, it was the best set I’ve seen them put on.
The band didn’t preview any new material, mostly a mix of Departing and Hometowns.
Nils sang a solo which happened to be a cover from the Littlest Hobo, and I still think Paul is one of the best Canadian drummers at the moment.
I danced and sang throughout the set, which was amazing overall.
Here are the rest of the photos.
