Today, Toronto-based artist Laurent Bourque dropped the music video for Easy.
A bubbly poppy tune for the summer time.
About the track:
On his new single ‘EASY’, Toronto’s Laurent Bourque embraces an uplifting pop sound, rooted in his love of raw punchy hip-hop beats, twinkling piano themes and unforgettable melodies. Recorded entirely remotely, the track is the first of many collaborative efforts between Laurent and Halifax’s Loser Supreme.
Inspired by a lighthearted danceable groove, EASY draws influence from many of Laurent’s 90’s childhood favourites like Dr. Dre, 70’s classics like the Bee Gees and contemporary pop giants like Mike Posner.
It all came together very quite quickly too.
“We knew we wanted to keep the instrumentation very simple.
The basis of all the music we were inspired by is really drum and bass. We were listening to a lot of Dua Lipa, Bee Gees and Gorillaz and we wanted this to be the backbone of the song.”
Laurent continues “We wanted the vocal melodies to be able to shine on top of these elements and have people bob their heads and move their bodies along with the song. We wanted it to be fun!” And fun & catchy & upbeat it is.
