Today, Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Leif Vollebekk and Australian musician Angie McMahon released their rendition of The Eagles’ iconic hit Take It to the Limit via Secret City Records.
Stripping away the grand, country-rock stylings of the original, their version transforms the song into an intimate folk-pop ballad.
With Vollebekk’s signature hushed vocals and McMahon’s soulful warmth, the duet feels delicate yet deeply emotive.
The sparse arrangement allows the lyrics to take center stage, evoking a sense of longing and quiet introspection.

“My good friend Angie McMahon and I spontaneously recorded ‘Take It to the Limit’, my favourite Eagles song, when I was last in Australia.
I grew up listening to those gorgeous Eagles harmonies with my dad.
One cassette, side A, side B. And flip it again.
I love the orchestra (it’s partly why I added an orchestra on “Revelation”) but it’s the blend of their voices that gets me on this song.”
