I decided to hit up the Elmdale Tavern because I wanted to see them.
Didn’t it was the same night as the Jonas Brothers *gag* which could explain it but I doubt indie music lovers would go see them.
I went to see:
It wasn’t heavily promoted but at least I did get to hear Jane Vain’s new material.
Also they said they love playing in Ottawa.
Hopefully next time I shall spread the word out on when they will be coming back to Ottawa.
I know for sure they will be at Pop Montreal (If I get my media pass).
I was hoping for a intimate show.
At least other people showed up.
Photos will be up later today.
Anyways, the first band was Extra Happy Ghost!!!
A solo artist from Calgary but had the backing band from Jane Vain.
His set was very indie experimental pop.
Reminded me more of the Women sound.
Before his set, I got to chat with the lead singer of Extra Happy Ghost!!!.
Talked mostly about Calgary’s Chad Vangaalen and Women.
How popular Chad is in Calgary but before 2007 he was sort of unknown outside of Calgary.
Great band to check out.
Lastly it was Jane Vain.
Very surprised with the change of sound.
I actually loved it. Gone is the raspy voice from the first album.
More of a heavy rocking sound.
Jamie the lead singer told me that no more from “Love Is Where the Smoke Is”.
Focusing more on the new upcoming album.
It was more fun, heavy, loud, abit dark and crazy.
Not sure the name of the tracks.
But I know the first track she said is a angry track.
I had a great time and I wasn’t worried since there were like ten other people at the show.
I can’t for the band to come back.
Excited for the new album whenever it will be released.
You should see them live, I was surprised that Jamie moved from Calgary to Montreal.
Its good so she can network or be friends with other Montreal musicians.
Here are the rest of the photos.
