Despite the flurry of activity around Ottawa on a Wednesday night, I opted to head and photograph for Exclaim! to the sold-out show at the Bronson Centre Theatre featuring Austin, Texas’ indie rock icons, Spoon.
Remarkably, this marked their debut performance in Ottawa, and they did not disappoint.
Their set was a tight, well-crafted selection of indie rock gems, and the audience was fully engaged from start to finish.
Opening the evening was another Austin-based band, A Giant Dog, who brought a raw, energetic burst of garage punk with a hint of classic rock swagger. Their lively, high-octane performance set the stage perfectly for what was to follow.
