Today I attended the launch of the ACE District, which took place on York Street beside the iconic Ottawa sign.
The ACE District is a unique collaboration between the City of Ottawa, the Ottawa Art Gallery, cultural institutions and organizations, artists, BIAs, and the business community. The initiative reflects the strength of Ottawa’s creative ecosystem and its important role as a catalyst for downtown revitalization and renewal.
For its inaugural presentation, the district is showcasing installations and artworks by Sam Loewen, Meryl McMaster, and Jordan Bennett.
Their works bring a diverse range of artistic perspectives to the public space and highlight the talent that helps shape Canada’s contemporary art landscape.
It was a wonderful event that celebrated creativity, community, and the vibrant cultural offerings that Ottawa has to offer. The launch demonstrated how public art can transform and energize downtown spaces while creating new opportunities for residents and visitors to engage with local artists.
Check out the gallery.
