This was the first time to see Anamai perform. Anna and David who make up the act were in Ottawa promoting the long await debut album Sallows. It was a wonderful set filled with mellow, atmospheric and haunting experimental folk music. After about the fourth song, Anna told the audience to sit down. It was like a camp fire kind of moment. Definitely my favorite show on Friday night.Opening up the show was Ottawa’s Pippahauntas. She performed a cool psych-pop set. Groovy and fun at times. Despite some technical difficulties, she pulled it through. Would have loved to hear more material.
Overall it was a great night.
