Bluesfest 2010: Jason Collett and City & Colour

It was a day off for Ottawa Bluesfest‘s main festival ground at the War Museum on July 12, 2010.
But York Street was jamming pack with alot of people dying to see Jason Collett and City & Colour.
It was also a free show part of the Pop Life at the National Gallery of Canada.

It has been awhile that I got to see a whole set by Jason Collett.
He was backed up by Zeus which was great to see.
He mostly played tracks from the new album Rat A Tat Tat and some from Here’s to Being Here and Idols Of Exile.
When he sang “Love Is A Dirty Word” apparently someone was throwing condom balloons. It was kind of weird to see.
Miraculously the setlist fell off the stage from the stage crew and I decided to grab it.
Here is what he sang.

  • Winnipeg Winds
  • We All Lose One Another
  • Rave On Sad Songs
  • Long May You Love
  • Lake Superior
  • Brownie Hawkeye
  • Charlyn, Angel of Kensington
  • High Summer
  • Cold Blue Halo
  • Love Is a Dirty Word
  • Love Is a Chain
  • Out Of Time
  • I’ll Bring the Sun

Next was City and Colour.
All I can say was it was insanity.
Girls were screaming like crazy when Dallas Green was doing sound check on stage.
I only stayed for the first three song which happened to be:
Coming Home
Cover song
It made my night hearing the first two songs.

Overall the free Monday show and no shows at the Festival grounds proved to be a hit.
So many people packed York St that you can see people watching from the parking garage.
It was one of those show you shouldn’t have missed out.

Thanks fo the tag, but i’m not totally sure my post applies. However, yes, I was one of those screaming girls last night. 😉

Good show. We were lucky to find a spot in the parking garage. Def the best view.
