This is what I love this about NXNE.
They will try to get acts to play Canada for the first time.
This was one of the bands that played their first Canadian show.
I am talking about Roanoke, Virginia’s Eternal Summers.
This was the second band playing the Exclaims.ca NXNE showcase.
By that time alot of people were entering the Drake Hotel.
There has been buzz surrounding Eternal Summers since they have been featured on Pitchfork with their music video Millions and Wonder.
When they started, I was so impressed with their set!
It was a mix of indie lo-fi pop-rock with some post-punk.
Kind of reminded me of a mix of The Breeders, New Order with vocals of The Cranberries and Asobi Seksu.
Played alot of tracks from the upcoming album “Correct Behavior” which drops on July 24th.
Here is what they played:
- Prisoner
- Wonder
- Running High
- You Kill
- I Know Now
- Millions
- Heaven & Hell
- Girls In The City
- Gouge
- Disappear
- I Love You
- White
Before the show, I got a chance to interview all three members of the band.
Before doing the interview, I chatted with Nicole and how much I was excited for their set and wishing they would play Ottawa in the future.
Nicole mentioned about having relatives in Ottawa and guess who it would happened to be? Her family isn’t that close with the aunt and uncle of “Sandra Oh”.
I was like surprised to hear but the interview with them will be up in a few days.
Here are the rest of the photos.
