Ghostkeeper – Balloon Moon Review: A Spiritual Prayer for Healing and Hope

Calgary-based experimental indie rock band Ghostkeeper have unveiled the music video for “Balloon Moon,” the second single from their upcoming album of the same name, arriving October 27, 2026 via Victory Pool.
“Balloon Moon” is a moody and romantically spiritual piece of experimental indie rock that feels both intimate and expansive.
There is a sense of healing woven throughout the track, with Ghostkeeper creating an atmosphere that feels almost like a musical prayer.
The song carries a beautiful tension between tenderness and the heaviness of the world around us.
Rather than simply being a love song, “Balloon Moon” turns love into something protective and medicinal is a source of light during difficult times.

As Shane explains:
“The ‘Balloon Moon’ is a sacred talisman that rises to give me light, hope and inspiration when I need it most,” explains Shane. “It is the medicinal and protective manifestation of the love between Sarah and I … and it shines even in this grotesque and heartbreaking climate of perpetual colonial/capitalist desecration of humanity and of our Mother Earth. This song is a prayer for all those who are brutally affected. Hiy Hiy.”

That idea comes through strongly in the music.
“Balloon Moon” feels vulnerable yet resilient, finding beauty and connection amid grief, destruction and uncertainty.
The accompanying music video adds another visual dimension to the song’s dreamy and spiritual atmosphere, complementing Ghostkeeper’s experimental sound without taking away from its emotional core.
With “Balloon Moon,” Ghostkeeper offer something that feels deeply personal while reaching toward something much larger.
It is a song about love, protection, hope and finding a little light when everything around you feels overwhelming.
“Balloon Moon” is a beautiful introduction to what Ghostkeeper’s upcoming album has in store.
