Today the Ottawa/Gatineau band Pony Girl dropped the music video for Laff It Off.
The leading single is taken from the band’s upcoming album of the same name which comes out on October 27, 2023 via Paper Bag Records
A moody and catchy indie pop rock tune that feels Broken Social Scene-esque vibe.

“’Laff It Off urges you to let go, a playful departure from the shade of its sister album Enny One Wil Love You (the band’s debut release with Paper Bag Records). Its spirited title track chants “I don’t wanna be working every day” over and over, rejecting labour and floating on with the tentative smile of those yellow happy face balloons. Playful fingerpicking gives way to surging synths for an opener as catchy as it is cathartic. You’re in Pony Girl’s world now.
“’Laff It Off’ is air to the grind’s fire, a balloon lift above and beyond the 9-to-5. It’s brushing off the heaviness of labour and floating on through a pseudo-Talking Heads chorus that’s so simple yet true. We first wrote ‘I don’t wanna be working every day’ as a lark, but ultimately fell for it as a chant to get through the next shift.”
