The Balconies and Dinosaur Bones @ The OB

It was a wonderful November 3rd Tuesday evening to see two great bands whom I’ve seen various times when they play in Ottawa.
The bands in question are:
Dinosaur Bones from Toronto
Dinosaur Bones @ The OB
The Balconies from Ottawa now living in Toronto.
The Balconies @ The OB
Both bands need no introduction since I’ve covered them on this site alot.
This was the first time for myself to attend this show at Algonquin College’s The Observatory.
Its a nice place but I haven’t stepped foot in that college since I graduated in 2007.
I didn’t know the Observatory would hold shows there.
What was nice about this show was that it was free.
The only catch is that the Observatory is very picky when it comes to checking ID even if its a All Ages show.

Anyways Dinosaur Bones was first to start and they always amaze me with their blend of indie rock alternative music.
They previewed new tracks from (whenever) they are finished with their full length album.
Can’t wait for when they are finished with the album.
Great band to see live and also very rad dudes to talk to.
Here is what they sang:

  • Royalty
  • Sharks
  • Vampires
  • Life In Trees
  • N.Y.E.
  • My Divider
  • Old New
  • Highwire

Finally The Balconies came and noticed alot of people filled the floor.
I was surprised with the turnout.
They sang a new song called Tiger.
Nice hearing the songs from their debut album like The Slo, 300 Pages and Ghost Fever.
Fun set it was.

For those that don’t know The Balconies made it at #10 on i(heart)music’s Hottest Bands in Canada.
Good job for them.
Here are videos I took at the show
Dinosaur Bones with N.Y.E. (Funny what I threw something at the lead singer)

Dinosaur Bones with Highwire (Sorry for the bad audio quality)

The Balconies with 300 Pages. (Sorry for the bad audio quality)

Hah, you probably covered that show better than I did! I’m that girl from The Algonquin Times, btw. Your shots are fantastic, much better than mine. Nice!
