What a wonderful summer show on August 5, 2011.
Still can’t believe it has been two years since The Wilderness of Manitoba played the Raw Sugar Cafe.
The opener for the show was Ottawa’s Orienteers.
The turnout for the show was unbelievable.
So many people packed the place.
The setting felt like a over-sized living room with the audience sitting on the floor being very attentive to the music.
Orienteers was the first band to play.
They played a nice mellow and relaxing set.
Forgot that Orienteers is technically That’s The Spirit since Ben the lead singer played one or two songs from previous moniker.
Finally it was Wilderness of Manitoba’s turn.
It was the four of them minus the drummer.
Reading back on the review from their first show back in 2009, they were the first band and first show at the Raw Sugar Cafe.
This time they had a bigger audience and it was a magically evening with their music.
This time they were promoting the re-release of their first EP now a full-length to “Hymns of Love & Spirits“.
It was a mix of that and the current LP “When You Left The Fire“.
Missing was their drummer but it was amazing without the drums
You had to be there to experience the pure live ambiance of their music.
Loved hearing the songs Evening, Orono Park, St. Petersburg and Bluebirds.
What an amazing show that night, if only there was a fireplace then it would have been magically.
At the end of the show, looks like all their CDs were almost sold out.
Listen to Mother Song
