The first show that I went at Pop Montreal 2011 on Saturday. I decided to go to Quai des Brumes to check out this band from Cleveland, Ohio called The Lighthouse and the Whaler. I was curious about this band since this was the first time to check them out.
Month: September 2011
I started my Saturday checking out Pop Montreal‘s Puces Pop and later went to Pop vs Jock. Here is a info about Pop vs Jocks. POP vs JOCK was Pop Montreal’s charity basketball game organized by Win Butler of Arcade Fire and Dexter John of DJ Sports Club. Team Pop, was made up of Arcade …
The last “it” show that I attended on Friday night’s Pop Montreal was at Il Motore. Was there to support the Chinese Canadian musician Alex Zhang Hungtai who goes by Dirty Beaches. Y’know give support to the Chinese! My third time this year seeing Dirty Beaches live. I noticed this is the first show I’ve …
Definitely one of the “it” shows at Pop Montreal on September 23, 2011. A sold out show with tUnE-yArDs, Pat Jordache and Touchy Mob at the Ukrainian Federation. Very anticipated show because it was tUnE-yArDs. This was the only time this year that I went to a show at Ukrainian Federation and there is something …
Started off my day with Pop Montreal‘s Symposium called “Voices on Voices” on September 23, 2011. This workshop/discussion was with tUnE-yArDs. This was about her writing and arrangement in her music. I was very excited to attend this one since usually at festivals I rarely attend these workshops.
The last Pop Montreal show of the night on September 22, 2011. After catching abit of Rich Aucoin before. I Bixi biked my way up to Église Saint-Édouard (aka L’Église POP Little Burgundy) to see Fucked Up. It wasn’t as packed as I thought it would be. Well there was a mosh pit near the …
Decided to catch abit of Rich Aucoin‘s Pop Montreal set at La Sala Rossa. I wanted to show my support for his Montreal show while at this festival. Surprised that his brother Paul was there. This is the first time that I see them play together. I was there for the first two songs filled …
Went to O Patro Vys to check out the Megaphono‘s Pop Montreal showcase on September 22, 2011. I only happened to catch two acts playing there.
My favorite Montreal indie pop label Arbutus Records did their Pop Montreal showcase on September 22, 2011. Having missed out their showcase last year, there was no way I was going miss this one. The showcase was held at Mission Santa Cruz on Rachel Street.
After attending the free show by Arcade Fire. I Bixi bike my way up to Club Lambi. This was my first time to step foot into this venue. (Love the mirrors on the walls) The Pop Montreal showcase was run by Indie Montreal. I manage to catch The Mountains and The Tree‘s set.
