Women – Women [Streaming]

For my first review.
It will be the debut self-titled album by Women.

Women, as a band, has indeed been associated with Chad VanGaalen, and their unique blend of indie pop, alternative, and psychedelic influences has garnered attention for its distinctive sound.

The lead singer’s vocals as having a “psychedelic noisy sound” or a “Beach Boys on acid” vibe gives a vivid sense of the atmospheric and experimental elements present in their music.
It’s always interesting when a band can bring a fresh and unique perspective to established genres.

The diversity in sounds, transitioning from indie pop and psychedelic tones to rock sounds in tracks like “Sag Harbour Bridge” and “Shaking Hands,” showcases their versatility and willingness to explore various musical landscapes within a single album.
The lo-fi 60s rock alternative sound you mentioned adds a nostalgic and raw quality to the overall listening experience.

The connection to Flemish Eye Records, which is also the home to Chad VanGaalen, reinforces the collaborative and interconnected nature of the music scene.
The album cover’s vintage look and the cultural setting of China add an extra layer to the overall aesthetic, making the visual aspect as intriguing as the musical one.
