You can say summer hasn’t ended yet.
It sure wasn’t at Ritual Nightclub on September 8, 2011.
Gaining alot of buzz at this year’s Ottawa Bluesfest (kicking myself for missing them).
I am talking about Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.
Happened to be World Famous Music‘s one year anniversary for live shows in Ottawa.

The show started of with Ottawa’s Daughter’s of the Revolution.
They are Ottawa based project that fuses electro, hip-hop, spoken word and punk.
Members consist of Olivier Fairfield (E-Tron Music, Fen.Nat and others),Omar Rivero (produced on Shad’s first album [NO WAY!]), Usmane Ali (Scattered Clouds and E-Tron Music) and Ian Keteku.
It was a pretty wild and crazy set.
Literally with the mix of music genre it didn’t go as bad and it was pretty amazing to see.

Then it was Hypnotic Brass Ensemble turn to come up.

I wasn’t familiar about the band but I heard they were great live and put on the best show.
I didn’t know all nine people could fit in that small stage at Ritual.
They just lifted off with the blend of jazz, hip-hop and rap and started a big fun party.
The vibe from the audience was very positive.

15 minutes into the set that everything was getting really hot and sweaty.
People were dancing everywhere and having a good time. Apparently there was a “misunderstanding” fight which I didn’t care to notice.
I talked to Rob who promoted the show and I wanted to know abit of the band.
I didn’t know that all the members except for the drummer are all brothers. Since their father is Phil Cohran who is a jazz musician
Overall it was the best show I’ve been to.
Totally made up for missing their set at Bluesfest.

Here are the rest of the photos.
