Finally got a chance to listen to the new album by DD/MM/YYYY (aka Date, Month, Year for those wonder what’s their name is).
Apparently Black Sqaure was available digitally on Feb 17th.
Physically Black Square comes out on March 17th.
So I took up the chance and listen to this album.
Band members are (if its right):
- Tomas Del Balso
- Jordan Holmes
- Matt King
- Mike Claxton
- Moshe Rozenberg
- Eric Warner
- Roger Leavens
I have to say this is a really interesting album.
Conceptual album (maybe?).
Their sound is indie noise alterna-rock.
Very reminisced of MUSE.
I think the album is daring since its 12 tracks and split into 2 different sides.
First side being the normal sound or “natural” instrumental rock sound.
Notably the track My Glasses which sounds like they used glasses and do that crazy sound.
1. Bronzage
2. No Life
3. They
4. Infinity Skull Cube
5. My Glasses
6. Birdtown
Second side being the digital techno sound.
The sounds of the future.
7. Sirius B
8. lismer
9. Real Eyes
10. $50,000 Guitar Gear
11. I’m Still In The Walls
12. Digital Haircut
It is probably a daring album they have done.
I haven’t heard any of their old stuff.
So I can’t compare.
I prefer the second half of the album. I like the bizarre sound stuff.
Favorite tracks:
- Brozages
- “They”
- Infinity Skull Cube
- Sirus
- Lismer
- I’m Still In The Walls
- Digital Haircut
If I rate this, it would be a 7/10.
