After the DVAS show at Zaphods.
I headed with Sam Everts up to Mavericks for another show.
It happened to be Ottawa’s The Weathermakers CD Release show and Young Rival was the headliner.
It was someone last minute for Young Rival to play a show in Ottawa considering at the moment they are touring with Pack A.D.
I actually missed Abigail Lapell set.
She is from Toronto and what I read her music is indie folk.
For the Weathermakers CD Release show, those who attended the show got a free copy of their CD.
The first song they had a problem with the amps.
Apparently it died on them.
They put on a loud rocking set.
Then it was Young Rival’s turn to play.
Their album LP (Review) was just released on vinyl.
Despite the low turnout, I was very happy about it.
Why? It means I got alot of room to dance to their music.
It was like your own private intimate show.
There were big Young Rival fans in attendance.
There is something about Young Rival’s music just brings out the fun in me.
I’ve seen the band live various times and they never disappoint.
They played alot of from LP and about three tracks from their EP.
At the encore they did a Iggy Pop & the Stooges cover.
It was surprise that Noah the drummer did the singing.
I really enjoyed their set and totally rocked out!
Hopefully with more word of mouth, they will attract alot of people to their shows.
Here are the rest of the photos.
